Dr. Samuel Oyewole brings more than two decades of environmental health and safety (EHS) expertise and leadership in academia, industry and in the federal government to his role as Chairman and Chief Executive. Previously, he was a chemical incident investigator with the United States Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board (CSB) where he deployed to multiple industrial and chemical accident sites, spearheaded investigative activities, and provided expert advice and guidance on several technical and scientific matters, developed recommendations from lessons learned, spearheaded various sections of investigative reports including emergency planning and response, reactive hazards, combustible dust, equipment failure, hot work, and other human factors issues including decision-making, fatigue and human error.
Prior to joining the CSB, he was a professor of environmental health and safety engineering at the Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Oyewole graduated with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc with honors) in Industrial and Production Engineering from the University of Ibadan. He has a master's degree (M.Eng) and earned his doctorate (Ph.D.) in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Oyewole has published more than 20 peer‐reviewed scientific journal articles, presented numerous technical papers at conferences and meetings and co‐authored numerous book chapters, including the Handbook of Loss Prevention Engineering.
